THE Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) of the Davao City Government is set to hold more training for all security personnel and watchmen to remind them of their mission as public safety providers.

City HRMO head Erwin Alparaque said his office, in coordination with the Public Safety and Security Command Center and other law enforcement units, has been conducting trainings for all guards and watchmen since last week.

Alparaque said the training is composed of three components — the problem intervention, the problem response, and the proper communication with local authorities.

Alparaque said this is to reorient security guards and watchmen over their respective duties and responsibilities in providing security to the government employees and the public, as well.

"We employed security guards primarily to protect the government properties and employees, and the customers or clients of the respective government offices, as well," Alparaque said.

Alparaque said the job of the security personnel is very important to the peace and order of the city.

The official added there are more than 200 security personnel assigned to various city government offices.

Alparaque said they will also include those in job orders and job contract personnel, who are given the assignment as security guards and/or watchmen, in the trainings.

Some 30 security guards securing public schools, public markets, and city government buildings and offices, attended a two-day training last week and another one has been scheduled.

Alparaque said the session includes topics on detection and assessment of threats, self-defense, and quick emergency response, among others.

Training instructor Jed Acero earlier said the participants are expected to have undergone a hands-on practice of skills they need to apply in a course of performing their job during normal times and emergency situations.
